Cuvée Les Gouttes de Dieu

This cuvée is the result of a collaboration with the author and illustrator of the manga «Les Gouttes de Dieu», Tadishi Agi and Shu Okimoto, who came to the Domaine to meet Laurence and taste Pegau wines. The manga recounts the rivalry between Shizuku Kanzaki and Issei Tomine to inherit the wine collection of a great critic, through a series of riddles revolving around twelve mythical wines called the 12 Apostles, including Pegau's Cuvée Da Capo 2000.

A blend of 13 grape varieties, with a majority of Grenache from La Crau sands, pebbles and red clay. In 2016, Laurence had set aside barrels of Da Capo. Tadashi Agi, the author, & Shu Okimoto, the designer, tasted them.

Notes Millésime - Pegau

A fabulous vintage! Ideal weather conditions, with a hot, dry summer and wide temperature variations, enabled the grapes to ripen to perfection, in perfect health. The harvest, spread over several weeks, produced grapes of the highest quality, requiring very little sorting. The wines are distinguished by their aromatic intensity, complexity and purity. The 2016s, for their part, are characterized by very clear, frank, intense and complex aromatic expression. Depending on the terroir, Grenache wines exude fragrances of raspberry, licorice, garrigue, candied ginger, black fruit and citrus. The blending of the appellation's different grape varieties gives rise to a «magical complexity», an expression of the resonance found between varietal typicity and the influence of terroir. Red wines boast dense, dark colors and very high levels of anthocyanins. On the palate, the wines are full-bodied, vinous and beautifully fresh. In a word, powerful! The tannins are very present, their grain extremely fine and already very silky. This vintage combines power, elegance and balance, and is one of the appellation's great years, with excellent ageing potential.
